Week 3 research and planning

Week three


From the music video we decide to do, we then analysed the initial clip to have a example an view of the principal artist image. Has we knew that it was prohibited to copy the initial clip video, we had to create different story line. From a realistic point of view me and my team members start our final treatment with including different element such as how our target audience would be, who is the artist, the technology, the logistics, cinematography and our vision.

This week have been mainly useful to plan and gather ideas from online sources and social media. My colleagues and me tried to find different ideas to put together and create something. in order to attract the target audience it is really important for my team to ensure that we give the rich image to our artist. we mainly watch American personalities as examples.

We also tried to find potential cast in our circle of friends to do the acting for our film. This was a bit difficult because most people didn't wanted to act for us as they were shy and find that it was time consuming. At the end i found some friend of my who accepted to act for our music videos.

I am a bit stressed because i don't know if wee are going to finish the work on time, therefore i believe that this coursework will help me to learn new skills such as time management. i also hope that my teems members will be reliable when needed and will successfully finish the work that we shared on time. the next step i think will be to be focus on the same question on seminars that we are currently taking.

Bob Marley : STIR IT UP

The reception theory has the ability to conform to the similarities seen as normal and usual for the genre and the singer image. The reception theory of this genre aim as male or female audience stereotypically seen as black smokers and having dreads logs. The target audience is generally with open mind and life experience people in order to reflect their ideas or opinions. For example Bob Marley a reggae icon, has touch a wide range of audience. The audience will be used to see him smoking weed and representing the simplicity of life meaning. By related with world issues or perception of life the singer will express his point of view which will involve meaningful word. Bob Marley can denote the simplicity of life with it guitar and acoustic through the reflect of its words and itself. different point of view Bob Marley can be seen as a great singer from people or a drug addicted from other.

The male gaze 

Maria Carey: touch my body

Within a men heterosexual perceptive attracted by the sex appeal of women. the male gaze theory is when women are sexualized regarding their body or sexy clothes they may have only seeing as visual pleasure and attraction. Maria Carey is seen as a sexual object for the audience in reason that the cloths and the lyric that she use conform and reinforce the stereotype of women present in the society. Reflecting the beautiful girls using her voice but her sex appeal to sale, the audience can denote as not really clever, vain and concern with their look and emotional which conform to the song that she sing. Maria Carey sing most of the time love song or song which can visually attract the audience. Even the title of her songs are relate to the image that she reflect to the audience examples: touch my body, honey, thirsty or obsessed. the stereotype of women is expressed in this clip video with body language that she adopt which glamorous and diamond as connotation of rich but useless women.

Voyeurism

usher : u got it 

within this video we are able to connote the connection that the actor want to have with it target audience. usher he seen as a sexual object for women and the clip is a good way to express the type of theory voyeurism.  the customer have a understandable meaning when trying to reflect the actor and the impact he want to have. the white which symbolise  purity and protection which usher denote from the first page below by caressing his girlfriend cheek. within some part of the clip we see usher without cloth this is a signification of body attraction for his target audience which is female young, teenage and some women. the relationship that he has within the story line because it can satisfy the audience expectation. the body language that the actor is expressing touch the audience in reason that the video has everything to keep the audience captivated with his physical attraction(6packs), protective (anxious) and the dance part  also involve the audience to learn and dance on it. the main location is under the rain with a low lightning this made the clip even more interesting and emotional by finding it romantic and at active at the same time.

Extension "ways of seeing"

Beyonce ft Jay- Z: Upgrade U

Within this video we can connote the sense of 
sexual and attractive theme of the music. The main singer have load of input in the song as she is eye catching with gold and white as the main colour used for her props and custom in her mise en scene. A sexy and attracting body language with a pretty face help the target audience to be captivated by the artist.  Beyonce the main artist move on the floor, doing sexy dancings and play with the camera in the water for instance reinforce the male gaza theory that women are used as object. " Bling bling " may be the right world to connote the sense of the video which perfectly match with the video name (upgrade). Gold is everywhere and this give to the music video a posh, chic and elegant atmosphere.  The fact that there's only one women with 5 boys  show that she's the centre of all attentions. The featuring with Jay-Z is interesting as the audience have a different way of seeing because of beyonce rapping imitation show a different way of seeing to the audience. This video have been extremely creative due to the method they demonstrate the theme to the target audience. the ways of seeing is totally different to an other video but this is really interesting as the audience can develop another understanding of the videos.

Week two:

what have you learnt from the video remake?

In order to have a better understanding about how video can be made, i have learn in class several theories such as repetition and difference, the male gaze, voyeurism, "reception", voyeurism, ways of seeing etc...

These theory help me to be more creative and to develop a clear vision of the target audience and the different way music video can attract the potential audience. I gave my own examples to show my understanding about the different theories. In overall i found these theories helpful because it gave me the opportunity to develop a wider view about how the target audience could potentially be touched.
these theories and example that i choosed had an impact on my planning and the soul genre that i have decide to do. the fact that i learn and found different there able me to develop technical skills and transferable ideas.

I then present my petch to the rest of the class to have another point of view and express my ideas. i had a positive point view in overall. i had the chance to choose my group and to collaborate with the people I wanted to work. We decide to choose leannes' video because she had a clear view on how she wanted her music video to be with precise point and how it could attract our chosen target.

Conclusion:

For next week me and my team members have to find ideas for the clip video we want to do. The first step will be to watch the initial video and find what is the artist target audience. for all step to run fast we are going to split the work into our group. the artist, the technology, the logistics, cinematography and our vision will be the the different headlight which are going to be research and find.
